It says that the four stroke engine is preferred because of the wankel's technical difficulties.  Is it because a German made it and Mazda is a German company?  Germans are perfectionists and are often compromising the whole project to get one thing right...is that what happened do you think?

Actually Mazda is a Japanese company. (Actually, Ford used to partially own them). Most of the reason for its disuse is that it is quite a bit less efficient, and it's... Well, look at the way it works, all of that fuel/air has to be compressed in the corners, and that's tricky to do at several thousand RPM, with metal.
