If you want to use the area above the nest boxes for storage (which would be great to keep containers of oyster shell, grit, even rubbermaid container of feed so you could do it all when you checked on your girls), I would just put door frames with chicken wire panels to keep your girls from roosting up there. Chicken wire is great for keeping chickens out of areas, not too great for keeping critters from getting your chickens
Or you could use solid doors and continue your adorable mural up there...Enjoy your birds!
