Well, I decided to try my hand at hatching out some eggs this year and along with that came the decision to get a good incubator. I went with the Brinsea Octa 20 with a cradle, LOVE IT!!!

We have it slap full of eggs, 10 split/lav orps, 6 buff rock, 7 bantam orps and two buff/white orp cross. We did our first candle last night and out of the 25 eggs we only have one that is questionable, 24 eggs just a growin!!

Have plans to fill it right back up with LF and bantam orps just as soon as this hatch is out, we love our orps.

I have the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco with auto-turning cradle too, and another without a cradle to use as a hatcher. I love them!

Mine is full right now too! I had to pass up some eggs I'd been waiting for, because I just didn't have enough room!

I got one for my birthday....have call eggs in there right now. Good luck with your hatching!

Tomorrow starts day 7.

Last hatch, I just removed the little dividers, added more water at the bottom, put the eggs into cartons and every egg in my Brinsea at lockdown hatched. (but I did help two that had shrink wrapped.)

Mahoni...tell me more about your egg carton method for lockdown. I have the same bator..Brinsea Do you put them in the carton big end up and cut holes in the bottom of the carton for air circulation. Do you find it helps them when hatching? Thanks! Keri

Well, we just did our second candle and still 24 out of 25 thriving!!

I know that some have said that they have had problems with using Brinsea's but so far so good here. I am nervous though as we go into lock down next friday. I only have this one bator so hatching will have to be done in it too.

Any advise for that stage in a Brinsea??

Yup, big end up, holes in the bottom of the carton. nicely hatched 24 eggs in there last hatch. I have 26 in there at present. At first candle today I only had three that had to be removed of the 26 I had in the bator.
