The Broiler Chronicles ~ Week 7 : The execution cometh......

Can some of you possibly post pics of your 4 -6 week old Cornish Crosses with another standard bird of the same age in view? My cornish Xs are still roughly the same size as my production reds and barred rocks with the exception of larger legs on one of them at 4 weeks. I am wondering if Cornish cross is indeed what I got. I thought the size difference would be drastically different at this age?
btw..I purchased them out of an assorted pullet bin at TSC-hoping they arent meaties-but planning for the worse case scenario. Thanks in advance for any pics.

Oh...forgot to mention that i called the hatchery that they came from (Privett) and all they told me was that there was a good chance they could be Xs...but they werent sure because they literally dont keep records of what mixed white pullets they sell TSC. TSC employees thought maybe Leghorns..but after I talked to hatchery...Im not convinced,. These are some of our first birds...so we are trying to learn all we can from BYC,,,really had no intentions of raising meaties.

I can take a picture of one of my cornish with one of my EEs tomorrow. They were hatched on the same date and are almost 7wks. By four weeks, my current batch of cornish were already three times as large as the EEs and now at 7wks are probably five times as big.

).

You will definitely, without a doubt, be able to tell the Cornish X from your other chicks!

Here are a couple pictures I took earlier today. They aren't fantastic because the EE didn't care for being around the meaties and the meat birds felt likewise. The meat bird that is closest to the EE is one of the smaller ones. They are all from the same hatch date and are just about 7wks.

I'm happy with how they are looking at this point. I expected them to be more frankenchickenish. We were going to be processing in two weeks, but may do it a week early. They seem so big and I don't want them to die before we are ready to process. I wish I had a scale to weight them right now.
