Yesterday, Mary and I started on the Chicken Run, and had it done by day's end. All there is to do is add the wire fencing to the top to keep hawks out. You can see the roll on the ground ready to go.

The run is made with 4x4x8 PT Posts set 6 feet apart, and sunk in the ground 9 inches. They are framed by 2x4x12 PT Studs, and it is all wrapped by 2x4 14 ga welded wire fencing. I left the posts tall to be able to add spot lights (and maybe Christmas Lights) later.

There are 2 doors to the run. One is from our yard, and the other will connect to the corral.

The second door opening...

We left the backside open, because this is where the Coop and Goat Condo will be going (this is the next thing to build).

. I'm actually making something very similiar to yours but it will be 4' height and the rooof will be A-framed. How are you going to do your roof ? I'm thinking mine shingles to match the playhouse I've got or metal roof. Did you make the panels before you put them to the run ? The size I'm doing is 16x8 run. I've done the framing of the ground and putting up the posts but I think I should of done the panels first

. I would love to see the finish work. Good luck and have fun

Lookin Good!!!! You both built a good run. Do you have the wire going into the ground and out at the bottom of the walls for predators? Not sure if you have predators, but if you do it may be wise now. You can use those rabbit cage clips to attach to the bottom of the walls that work awesome if you are going that route. I am curious too like MamaChic21 how you are going to do your roof? Cant wait for more pics. Aint it exciting!! LOL

The roof will be flat with the welded wire over it. I made two of the panels first, and the connecting one after they were up.
(I will give that welded wire one thing... it kept everything square.)

Newbie in Screamer Al, :

I am not sure how the wire for the ground will be... I am tempted to lay the wire flat and nailed secure, use sand over it all.

Yes it is exciting... I wish al the materials were here so I could be outside building

Gah!!!! We went out yesterday to build Phase 2 of the coop, and it rained in the middle of the build (had to pick up everything in the downpour).

Hopefully today we can get it done...
