The BYC Book Club

Ya, I think another week would do! It took a little bit to get the book to the library for pick up so I haven't had it long.

A couple chapters in past the first stage of pip's expectations (chapter 20-something)

So far it seems like a typical good read. But I wonder if some of the characters or situations were uncommon for literature at the time? The language does throw me at times because I'm not used to it, but my brain just sort of skims and rearranges.
Either way, so far so good.:thumbsup

Okay, hopefully this Friday everyone will be done with Great expectations. What do y'all think? I know @Treerooted started later and I stopped for a few days because of a busy weekend.

I decided to read 'A tale of two cities' instead partly because it's shorter, and partly because my brother has to read it for school soon, and I thought I would read it first, before he starts dropping spoilers. :p I do intend to read ''great expectations'' soon.
I enjoyed 'a tale of two cities'. It was a little harder to get into then the other Dickens books I have read, but it was very engaging and suspenseful, especially toward the end.

I think I can get it done! I haven't read anything all weekend, but I'll be reading before bed this week.
I'm not sure I knew what to expect; I knew nothing about the book so no preconceived ideas.

What's next...will those that read Great Expectations be sharing their thoughts on the book? I'm hoping that's the plan. :) I briefly tried reading it when I was around 12, but just couldn't get into it. I'm interested to hear what everyone thought of it.

Once people are done with book we plan on sharing our thoughts :). I don't think I would be very interested in Charles Dickens at 12 but who knows .
