I usually end up killing plants. 

Happens to me too. This is one of the only things I've rooted besides fig cuttings.

you are just helping with survival of the fittest, one day you'll find a plant that won't die (I have a history of killing aloes although the one I have now is incredibly resilient.)

There's a rose that my dad can't get rid of, he dug it up and throw it across the road about three times in the middle of July, it's still were it was originally and also across the road now, it's so pretty when it flowers (I mean almost a half the the other side of the road is covered in it) I tried propagating it, I can't do it to save my life.
