|~~**The Chatterbox Chooks Club!!!**~~|

thanks!! I saw that thread, but that's crochet. But thanks anyways. ^.^

Oh, you're welcome. =)
Is there a way you could adjust the pattern to knit it instead of crocheting?
For instance, I don't knit well, but I know how, so I can use a knit pattern as a basic idea but crochet with the holes and whatever and get the basic shape of whatever it is.
Does that even make sense?
Is that something you could do with this pattern?

I took a look at the pattern and the pics. I wouldn't want to do the one with the collar hanging off the front; I'd do something like the blue one in the top left:

Anyway, if you need help turning this into a knit pattern, LMK and I'll be happy to help. =)

Okay, I'm going to try to turn this crochet pattern into a knit pattern.
Here's some information that might help you in catching mistakes I'll probably make.
A Double Crochet is really supposed to be three chains, so a row of double crochets would be equal to three knit rows (knit or purl or knit/purl, etc.)
I don't know why she used a chain 2 at the ends of rows to begin the next row, but....

This pattern is not set. You can adjust and eyeball. If someone wants, I can try to turn the pattern sideways (sort of) and make it where you're knitting it from front to back rather than around your chicken and then sewing it closed.

Start Your Work: Cast on 31. This is not really a set number. This is the length of your chicken's body. Eyeball it.
Turn and knit to end. Make 10-15 rows.
This part goes under your chicken, from the

ROW 7- After you have chained two and turned to begin your SEVENTH row, DC in next SIX stitches. Then, Chain Six (not in previous stitches) to create a chain that will make your wing opening. On the 7th Stitch, instead of chaining, DC back into your work again. This will make a "hole" that is six stitches long.
Continue to DC in each stitch until you reach the THIRD Stitch from the end. You should have THREE STITCHES to fill,
in the first stitch DC TWICE (increase)
In the Second stitch DC TWICE (increase)
In the LAST stitch in your row, DC once, then chain two and turn.
IDK how to knit such that you make a space in the piece. Maybe someone can help me out with this part.

ROW 8- DC in first stitch
DC twice in each of the next TWO stitches (increasing twice, Rows 7 and 8 will create a longer tail area, which you can eliminate if you don't like that idea, but I like the way it looks and fits.)
DC in each stitch till end, Chain two and turn

ROWS 9 and 10- *DC in each stitch till end, Chain two and turn (repeat from star to create row 10)

ROW 11 - DC in each stitch until you are five stitches from end. Then DC once in next two stitches (Decreasing) and DC again ONCE in next two stitches (Decreasing a second time) and then DC once in last stitch.... Chain two and turn, completing row 11.

ROW 12- DC once in first stitch (not in turning chain) and then DC once in next two stitches (DECREASING) and then DC again once in next two stitches (DECREASING AGAIN.) then DC once in each space until end of chain. Complete Row 12, Chain two and turn.

ROW 13- DC once in each of next six stitches, then Chain 6 (creating other wing opening.) In the next stitch (stitch 13 from end) DC again and continue DCing in each stitch until end, creating wing hoed and ending Row 13. Chain Two and Turn.

ROWS 14 thru 18- *DC once in each space. Chain Two and Turn (repeat from star until you have finished row 18 and are have chained and turned to begin row 19)

ROW 19- DC once in each space, FIFTEEN TIMES, Chain two and turn. (end Row 19)

ROW 20- DC once in each space, FIFTEEN TIMES (do not chain and turn. End Row 20)

To finish Sweater, Fold in half and match last fifteen DC's (the short rows that you finished with) up with first row. Join them together with 15 slip stitches. Finish off and weave in ends.

For durability, I actually Slip stitched it across twice, once each direction, before finishing off. Then I turned it right side out so that the slip stitched were inside the sweater. See photos and I hope to heck it turned out like mine. Sorry I am not a pattern writer. I can crochet any ol way but I am no pattern genius!

The End.
Feel free to share this and crochet away. This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not use this pattern to create sweaters for profit (this means don't crochet them and sell them!)
I got this pattern from this (http://dazed81.blogspot.com/2011/12/one-chicken-sweater-made-five-more-to.html) website. I was trying to make it a knit pattern.
I have now figured out that I'm going to have to go about that differently.

Disclaimer: This is a work in progress, but if anyone has a chance to knit this and lets me know what mistakes I make, I'd be happy to correct them.
Further disclaimer: I can design crochet patterns (I did not design the one above). I know how to knit. I'm not that great at actually knitting, but I think I can design a basic knit pattern based on the crochet pattern above from another BYC member.

I suggest using garter stitch, just to keep it simple and so it's stretchy.
This pattern is written to be cast on from back (of chicken) to front, then knit front to back and "knit back" from back to front.

Cast on 30 stitches. (This is supposed to be the length of your chicken on the underside of where the sweater is going to cover; it will go from the wish bone down, but not far enough down to interfere with walking.)

Next 7 rows:
Knit to end; knit back.

Next row:
Knit 7 stitches, cast off next 6 stitches, knit to end; knit back (to cast off stitches), cast on 6 stitches, finish knitting back.

Next row:
Knit to end; knit back.

Next 3 rows:
Knit to end, add 1 stitch; add 1 stitch, knit back.

Next 3 rows:
Knit to end; knit back.

Next 3 rows:
Knit until you have 2 stitches, knit them together; knit first 2 stitches together, knit back.

Next row:
Knit to end; knit back.

Next row:
Knit 7 stitches, cast off next 6 stitches, knit to end; knit back (to cast off stitches), cast on 6 stitches, finish knitting back.

Next 7 rows:
Knit to end; knit back.

Cast off.
Fold in half and sew beginning edge and ending edge together.

Please let me know how it works. =)

I think I'll try it out, TeaChick. *warning* I pretty much fail at knitting, at least quickly, so it might take a little while to get done. I have a sudden heavy molter, so I need a sweater. (Er, the chicken needs a sweater.)

ETA - Ok, maybe not. I can't find my needles. :/

Oh, it's okay however long it takes. I understand. I started a hat (they're small, takes a couple hours to crochet one) two weeks ago!!!
I understand taking a while. =)

Uh-oh! I'd lend you mine, but.... my DD probably has them in her room somewhere...
