I'm going to be nosy... How old is everyone and where are you all from? Tell me a little about yourselves and how you got into chickens!
Ha!! Well, I can't tell you how old I am-- against BYC rules, but here is a little about myself:
I got four chickens about three years ago from someone who had them illegally in their development and didn't want them anymore-- two years later my bantam Barred Rock Junior died from a broken neck, though I don't know how she broke her neck. :( In March I got four more chicks, though I was planning to only get three! And extra EE snuck home with me. ;D I have four horses, 7 chickens, 2 rabbits, and 2 turtles. I have four older brothers- and one is engaged! I live on the East Coast, and I'm homeschooled. I am a Christian as well. :) Hope that sums me all up! =D

Nice to meet all of you! I have lived in Illinois most of my life and when I was little my mom would sneak a chick home from work in her pocket every now and then so I grew up with pet chickens. This Easter we saw colored chicks on TV and drove three hours to get some. We got ten but realized we didn't have the room as they got bigger so my father in law adopted 8 and we kept two. They were very spoiled and I seriously think they did not know they were chickens! The other day something got my rooster. Not sure what cuz it happened in less than 5 minutes. He was there then he was gone! Just some feathers left behind. Maybe a hawk but I have a sneaking suspicion it was my neighbors pit bull :( however, we re-adopted one of our chicks back from my father in law and everyone is happy! I also have a husband who I call Dr Doolittle cuz he tries to tame everything. Even the skunks. I have a daughter who calls Pookie her BFF chicken

and also 6 hamsters and two cats! And the cats sleep with the hamsters and the chickens lay with the cats :/

hi LibRat...Would you like me to put your name on the member's list?

I am a Christian who has had chickens for about three years now. I currently have ten, although altogether, I have owned fourteen--the ones I named are in my signature. I got them from a free-range organic egg farm that gave them away when they were no longer good layers (They are NOT ex-bats!)
