Scratch that. Either tomorrow at the earliest or next wednesday at the latest. :D

Oh, well, that gives you time to prepare.
Coop cleaning, adjustments, additions, building, etc. =D
No building to be done. :D I've got room in my coop for 9 more chickens and will be culling 3. I think I am going to get 3-4 silkies and 3-4 cochins. I want to get a rooster, I'm just not sure which breed. :P

I do still have to set up the brooder though. But that'll be done in a jiffy.

Oh, well that's not to fun.
My last hatch also was a blow - 6 Blue Leghorn eggs and 3 crosses. Only the 3 crosses hatched. I was really wanting those BL's, I paid good money for them too.

But then you just hire a helper, so you can have goats, sheep and cows

!!!
Try ducks, they are good fun.lol.

Thanks!

BLs are pretty, better than plain old WL. (I have three hens and one of my roos is half WL).
I don't like that my Leghorns have to be lead around by the hand, well wing, or they get eaten. I've lost two b/c they decided arbitrarily to go sleep in the woods.

Yeah, my DS helps me, but preschoolers are prone to feather sexing chicks until they're two months old and letting them fly out of their hands. KWIM?
No! No, ducks; they're very messy and I like to free range. Plus, I'm still trying to get my chicken operation off the ground.

It's a good job; I like trying to do things like that when I have a chance. (I don't have much chance when I'm supposed to be doing philosophy.

That's great!!! (I don't mean the culling part, I mean everything else). Having extra room is great!!!

Oh, get a Cochin roo, then send me some hatching eggs so I can have a Cochin roo too. ;-) lol
JK. I've been trying desparately to get a roo for Snoodle.

Yeah...culling part ain't so fun, but I figure if I'm going to have a farm I'm going to have get used to it. :(

Haha! Do you know if Cochin roos are nice? Do you think they could mate with a standard size chicken? I think one of my problems with my current rooster (who is one to be culled) is that he is so darn big and hurts the smaller girls!

Yeah, that's how I feel about it.

Cochins, in general, are gentle and friendly (but will stand up for themselves with other chickens, unlike the overly friendly Wyandottes, who can get in too deep with an aggressive chicken).
Anyway, I don't have a roo, just a hen, but I've been reading and talking to other cochin owners.
You can check out the Bantam Cochin and Bantam Cochin Frizzle thread. You can get info from longtime Cochin owners/breeders/etc. =)
I'll get you the link, if you want.

If you could get me the link, that'd be GREAT!!! I really do want a rooster, because I love watching their behavior and the interaction with the girls, but I want to make sure I get a breed is is more prone to be friendly then not. :) I know I have a chance of getting another mean one, but I just hope and pray I won't!!!

Hay, you leave my 'plain old' WL's alone

hahah.
I do prefer blue to white but the whites are still wonderful, especially when they are managed right.

DS? ( Sorry all I know is DH.lol. ).
Yes ducks are extremely messy, but still make up for it with their eggs and quirky personalities.

Ohh Philosophy: If a tree falls in the middle of the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
hahah, I quite like philosophy.
