I've never had them before. I had to research to see what it was. I had the heebie jeebies for 2 days.

I got my first adorable egg today! My first egg ever!

She laid another one today and I got a late surprise with a new pullet laying! 2 down, 15 to go.

I have cartons ready! I have another layer because today but my WL took the day off. So 3 laying! 14 more to go.

I'm forced to hold vigil over my hen "sunshine" tonight. She has sour crop, so I massage it to help her feel comfortable! Bad thing is, she eats like a pig, everything in sight!
but I love her so I will watch over her!

How do you know when a chicken has sour crop? I'm half worried I won't know my chickens are sick or need help until its too late. Although I have a pullet that has a death wish (5 injuries in the last 2 months). Easy to spot when she needs help - blood everywhere!

I take my time, and watch my birds very closely. Sunshine needed water all night, she still has a bulging crop but its smaller and she's pooping better. Good sign! + sour crop, they get pretty bad beak breath.

Glad she’s doing better! I try to keep an eye on them all. I probably visit them three times a day.

PS - I got feed this week from the feed store and they are getting more chicks tomorrow. If they have two or more of the breeds I want, I’ll probably pick some up.... don’t tell my husband.

This hen is overweight! She eats everything and doesn't drink enough water. It was a long night, but she seems better today. I put her back in the coop/run. The rooster yelled at me. Naaa he yells at everybody!
