I witnessed the sweetest thing yesterday and wonder what other stories like mine are out there. I have 3 hens of laying age but only one so far is laying - Roxy. So I hear Clementine loudly complaining and go out to see whats what; no problem other than she is alone. I go to the coup to see if the other 2 are there and Joules was on the ladder watching Roxy who was behind the curtain laying, and just cooing and trilling in the softest voice. Moments later she jumped down, Roxy followed and they waddled single file out of the coop. Roxy has laid about 10 eggs now and has never sung a song or made any sounds at all.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
