Hi everyone! My name is Haily and I'm 17 years old. I'd been asking my parents for years to let me have chickens. But, to my dismay they always said no. SO, I did what any sly Junior would do and I decided to raise backyard chickens as my senior project! Finally they agreed to let me have some girls. 4 days ago I became the Mother Hen to 4 adorable pullets. 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Black Star, and 1 Sagitta. Then today I went to D&B and guess what came home with me? 1 more pullet! She's the cutest thing ever! A Black Australorp. She loves to be held and comes right up to my hand whenever I put it in the brooder. So, I am the proud Mom to 5 chicks! I've used backyardchickens.com many times before now, when doing my research, but today I decided to take the leap and sign up as well! I guess I'm officially in the club, right? Can't wait to talk to everyone and share my experiences! I'm sure that I will have plenty of questions.
