Winter was standing outside Midnight ' s door. Guards holding flaming torches surrounded the house. There was no escape. *It's a good thing Princess Fern came out of this* Winter thought trumphaintly. *Or else I never whould have thought that murder would be in there*. Winter hoped the guards wouldn't be to rough with her. After all the black chicken was only a hen. *That why I have to get her first* he thought determinedly. Winter kicked the door of the cottage down and rushed in. Taking Midnight completely by suprise. In a quick skillful move he pinned her to the floor. With his talons grasping the hen's wings Winter grabbed her dagger.He knocked the blunt end onto her head.Before she could protest. The hen went limp and fell into unconsciousness. Guards poured in and started to chain Midnight up. After they dragged the unconscious hen out. Winter threw the first lighted torch onto the cottage's thatched roof.

(Winter could take her back to his kingdom for trial since she killed HIS guards.But when she is sentenced to death he thinks that is to harsh of a punishment. His adviser agrees to let him choose the punishment. So he gives her a choice die..........or train as a knight with him.)

Midnight sat up, “what on earth” she mused “oh that’s right some moron grabbed me and knocked me out”.
