I didn't realize I shared before I finished my introduction, so here goes:
I started out with 12 asa brown roosters that I ordered from Tractor Supply! (we're not allowed to have roosters) With the help of my friend, I was finally now have 5 hens. 1 cream legbar; 1 asa brown, 1 RIR; 2 black copper marans;
Their coop is a doll house shed that I got off of Facebook marketplace for free. It doubles as storage. It works out well because it protects them from the harsh weather.
I love taking care of them because they have kept me from getting depressed after my father died in February 2020. I had somewhere to focus my nurturing energies. It has been a great communal project. My neighbors love to help care for the hens in exchange for some eggs.
I'm a mother of 6, my youngest is going to be a senior in high school this year. I substitute teach in the local high school. I'm a re-enactor and I have a large garden that I share with my neighbor.
I'm really looking forward to getting help with some issues that I'm presently having. I will share in another post.
