I am new to backyard chickens and would love some advice....we have six, 5 month old chickens that we got at a day old. I have noticed over the last couple of days that one of the chickens always stands by herself away from the group. She doesn't even try to get any of the scratch that I throw down like the others do. She looks healthy. Any ideas about what the problem might be..or even if there is a problem?

Is she eating her regular feed and drinking?
Is she active?
Chickens are very food motivated, so her not eating the scratch is odd, although they all have their personal preferences.
I'm pretty sure that she is eating and drinking normally. I will have to make sure and watch very closely over the next day or so.

I think chickens all have their own likes and dislikes to food. Does she always stand alone? If it's just for scratch, she may just not like it. If it's for everything, maybe she is low in the pecking order? I'm not sure if chickens dislike foods a lot, but I know they can like things a lot. When I feed herbs and clover and oats, I have to guard the entrance of the run to make sure no one makes it out.
