My chicks ship on September 11. We just got the posts for the run set, and will be putting up 2x4 welded wire fencing on the upper portions tomorrow or Monday. Half a wall left on the coop (a cleaning hatch under the egg door) and making the run door are easy and fun for me.

I've never had chickens, never even HANDLED a chicken, so I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into, but I'm excited.

Nope - too far for a cord. But the coop took so long to get started that I'm not counting on run assembly going quickly.

My first chickens were about 10 years ago when we lived in TN. Seems to me they were Buff Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds, all hens. Terrifically entertaining.

How exciting for you! Best of luck completing the building and enjoy those chicks...they grow very fast so be sure to take lots of pictures.
