The chickens we rescued :)

We have had our babies for a month now and wow what fun!!! They are a scraggly lot and getting better now that they are free ranging and get plenty of food and fun. We rescued them from a horribly filthy coop that had a smaller run than we have now and they were not feed so much by a not very nice man. Poor things. The picture above is hours after we brought them home the first day We kept them in the coop and run for 3 days then let them go free range all day and its been nothing but chicken fun ever since! Any help on identifying the types of chickens we have would be great!!


This is Black Sheep.She is a loner and her feathers show an irridecent green/blue when she is in the sun!! Any idea what type she is?



This is the head honcho, El Diablo. In the forefront is Rainbow and Miss Guinea over by the evestrough.


This is Milk Shake. She is the friendliest and we have no idea what kind she is...actually, other than Miss Guinea and Yankee, we have no idea what kinds of chickens we rescued. lol


This Yankee, we think she is an ameraucana. She is a bit of a bully.

This girl is a Black Sexlink.


This girl is a production red.


You've got it right, you can call her an Easter Egger too.


This boy looks like a mix of brahma and Rhode Island Red or something of the such.


From this picture, I can see a White Leghorn, your Guinea, a light sussex, maybe a Delaware and a couple mixes.



I'm glad you could rescue your new chickens.

Thanks Whittni!! it helps to know what they are....since Milk Shake is a production red maybe thats why her beak is trimmed. They are such a pleasure!!

more chicken pics! i couldn't get them all loaded last time because our internet is slow out here in the bush. So here is the rest of our babies and the new chicken tractor we just finished today.



Our flock checking out the new tractor. This is the whole flock minus the scraggly bugger below. Off in the distance, top left corner, in front of the white fence are our 2 pullets, Beatrice and Hermione. They are still getting used to life her at home and the flock are still getting used to them. You can also see the coop and small run in the background.



This sorry bugger above is Whiteman. He was the 3rd ranked rooster when we rescued this bunch. The 2nd ranked is now in chicken heaven and was yummy lol Whiteman was keeping to himself and not causing any problems but now that he is getting healthy and gaining weight, he is raping the hens lol and poor El Diablo is chasing him everywhere. I have also caught him skipping sideways and trying to kick Black Sheep, our black sexlink hen. He is starting to cause problems so he will be living in the new chicken tractor until the broilers come in 2 weeks.....then its crock pot for Whiteman!! lol



Joe extended the chicken wire 1 1/2 feet beyond the edge to make a skirt around the tractor. Living so far in the bush, the predators are numerous so hopefully this will help with anything trying to dig under tractor frame and get to our broilers.



Hermione, one of our new pullets that we got at the auction 2 weeks ago. She is very friendly!! and lots of fun They are not laying yet so i have no idea how old they are or what breed they are. We think they might be production reds.
