They are so cute - active and cheaping away. Had a scare when I first got them out of the box, though. One of the Ausralorps was droopy and the other chickens kept pecking her, so I just put out the feed and continued to dip everyone's beak in water. Now they are all perky - even the droopy one. I'm thinking they were probably very hungry and thirsty (???).

But here is my other question - all of the chicks stretch their legs out at intervals. They walk around and then stick a let out like they are stretching out a Charley Horse or something - that's normal right?

I think it's cute as all get out when they stretch like that. I have one right now who stretches a wing and a leg at the same time. So cute!

Yep, normal. Adorable little show offs

Totally normal.. Just think about how stinkin' quickly they grow! They're constantly growing, and therefore constantly stretching. Pretty soon they'll be constantly preening, but don't worry, it's not mites!

Whew! My chicks stretch all the time too, so I'm glad to see that it's normal. I never thought to second-guess that.

Mine have started preening all the time now

Mine did that as soon as we got them about a month ago. Nothing like imitating my chicks at work to entertain the staff. Lol, I'm a nut. It is my favorite new chick move.

LOL Your work must be fun!

The kids got home and gathered around the brooder. I had just gotten done telling them about the one chick that insists on stretching a wing and a leg at the same time and the little bugger started doing it. The kids thought it was awesome and got all excited.

It's the little things in life ....
