How is everyone handling the higher cost of feed? How do you tell your customers that they have to pay more? Do you pass the cost on to your chick and chickens sales as well?

honestly if i wasnt selling my eggs i wouldnt have any more hens it costs a lot it keeps going up every time i go to get more

Coupons. Purina offers through club. It helps. $2 off a bag. But... still have to compare to house brands like DuMor. Sometimes, by careful shopping, others like Armada are bit less. Still, we had to raise prices last winter 50 cents a dozen. We're at the glass ceiling at $2.50 for our area. So..... here's to hoping grain prices will follow some of the other commodities like silver and oil and begin to moderate.

I bought 50 lb bags of Dumor starter/grower at TSC last week for $13.29 each. I'm kind of new ( 32 buff orps 7 weeks old ) so I don't know what it cost 2 months ago. I know the first 50# bag lasted one month, the second bag lasted a little over two weeks. I picked up two 50# bags last week because gas is so high I didn't want to have to go back in 10 days.

Buffs only

40 pound bag of feed her is costing us $15.50, by the rate the girls are eating, I might have to look into getting a ton and splitting it with a couple friends or something
