I went to the feed store today and got everything I'm going to need - only 11 days until my babies hatch and go in the mail from eFowl! I am starting to get nervous for some reason.

I am going to get the brooder all set up and see how warm it gets. I'm thinking they'll be out in the garage for a few weeks. My dad is coming the weekend before the chicks ship, so we're going to build the coop, and I'm sure I'll have finish work to do after he leaves. I have been SOOOO tempted to go snag some older pullets off of Craigslist for the instant gratification.

I am getting buff Brahmas, black Australorps, and Wyandottes (partridge, silver laced and Columbian). If you'd told me a year or two ago how excited I would be about a few chickens, I would have said you were crazy. Anyway, I will of course post lots of fuzzy butt pics, and just wanted to thank everyone for all of the wonderful information at BYC. I would probably be doing everything wrong without all of you (but I'd also only be getting the three chicks I originally planned

It's so hard to wait for their arrival, isn't it! I've got lots of birds outside, 15 in a brooder right here in my computer room, and 12 more on the way around May 21. It's a good thing I've got the babies next to me here, because I'd be going crazy waiting for the new bantams to arrive!

I went to the feed store today, and had to really work to restrain myself from going into the room with the new chicks. Dang addictive chickens!

Have fun building your coop and planning, and good luck resisting the Craigslist urges. Or not!
