My grown stepchildren never heard of a radar range and they didn't know answering machines ever came with tapes. Gosh I'm getting old.

We are not getting old technology is just moving to fast. I don't own an answering machine I have a simple phone no bells and whistles no cell phones no cable tv just computer with internet. I don't miss not having cable I don't miss the answering machine. Guess I am getting old.

My FIL still uses his antique Radio Shack/Tandy computer for his finances and whatnot. He did progress to a new computer 8 years ago and hates it because it keeps trying to tell him what to do, so he stays with old Reliable.

He used to write code for rocketry applications, he really IS a rocket scientist! And he's 80 something, no one knows for sure.....

I remember seeing advertisements for a "simple, basic" cellphone, that had none of the bells and whistles of most others -- it's just a phone, and does nothing else. I can't for the life of me remember precisely where I saw it, so I could refer you to it, but I know it exists. That might be a good idea for him. I'm sure if you google around you'll find it.

Otherwise, bravo!

The Jitterbug is supposed to be a good "no-frills", basic phone for older people that is easy to use. The buttons are larger, and there are no cameras/sd cards/internet or any other confusing stuff on it. Might be what you are looking for.

I checked out the jitterbug first, but it has been bought out by another company (can't recall the name right now), so that made me a little nervous. Then I went to Consumer Cellular, which is the one AARP recommends. I've given dad all the information - phone types, call plans, etc. He's thinking it over and s'pose to get back to me.
