The disappointment is real

At least you got a hen...I tried to get an olive egger twice and got a roo both times :lol: First time was Dumpling- he was nasty. Second time was Benny, and he is an angel but a bit skittish.
But I totally understand the disappointment:(
I hatched about 30 eggs last year. Had quite a few cockerels, but I still only ended up keeping 3 pullets. This one, a Marans cross (so definitely brown eggs), and another EE who hasn't started laying yet. The last girl was attacked by a raccoon and nearly lost an eye and half her face is a giant scar, so the trauma during puberty might mean she never lays. I hope she does, but I REALLY wanted a green egg from this one so it didn't come down to Columbo (one-eyed pullet).

Yeah she's fine. The scar is a doozy though. I felt really bad for her during the freezing weather -- it HAD to have ached.
