The dog got out and......

Well, if it's any help, the lab is the least interested in hurting the chickens. My last lab would walk right up to birds at the park but not hurt them. Of course, our labs are bred for guide dog work so much of their prey instinct has been bred away I'm sure but labs seem easy compared to our other dogs.
 
Very encouraging story. We have a golden retriever who is very good with the small animals we foster for the Humane Society but I have some concerns about when we get our chickens into the coop we're currently building. Right now we have 2 chickens living in our kitchen and I think he's getting somewhat desensitized to them, but it may be a different story when we have a full flock of 6 birds outside in their (secure) run.
