The Duck Thread

She looks
Can anyone tell me what Breed the duck on the right is? It is a female. How cute are they??

she looks like a Rouen or even a mallard

Can anyone tell me if ducks would eat their own eggs and why? Would it mean they are lacking something in their diet? It just happened for the first time and they have been laying for quite some time now! Thank ou for any answers or advice :)

Hello. Some probly know of other thread posted in were i said had gotten a moscovy pair with an egg that out of two or three was given to me that was left from think first laying. well they are taking care of egg but not setting it maybe cause one only (???). I've had them now for a week, and supposedly hen hadn't laid for days.
they are a year old told.. days before i got they were a trio, out of several ducklings bought by old owner (others may have been sold or killed by squirrel hunting dog with other ducks), other hen had clutch of almost hatched all viable dozen eggs (in depression in mud, manure, and rotting grass, under top of dog house in moist soil).

Wondering if i tried putting more muscovy eggs under her, if she would set them?

Anyone around south florida or other places were they eradicate feral/wild scovys, were i could get eggs that'd be scuttled anyway, that i could try as test eggs? i could pay shipping ect.. or could use runners and/or cambells to test and hatch and raise same? i have pretty decent sized catfish, koi, goldfish, and panfish, stocked, spring fed pond. also stream/creek with minnow ect. lots of pastured old crop field cut sometimes for cattle hay. also have big duck pen with protection and kiddy pool ect. have rough collie that loves and herds animals up and pens up for me, prefers to stay out by my poultry or guarding neighbors cattle when calving, and killed pack of coyote (parents and four juvi), and a big white feral codog, that kept coming close and up to chicken coops, and killed some of neighbors cattle. so my animals protected..

Isn't Seiverville,TN up around Dollywood? I live in Western NC not far from Asheville, I don't ship eggs because just too big a hassle but would be willing to meet you somewhere around Asheville and give you some Scovy eggs, only problem if your duck isn't broody you can't make her sit on them.

I actually moved to bybee by morristown, but know guy who wants to trade rare pigeons we each have, that lives or goes there a lot. my female is starting to brood, as che was in nest today on egg and angry at being disturbed when i went close to see were was.
