Sometimes it discourages a broody from sitting to move the nest, but I believe people have been able to do so successfully.

Do you have an incubator, or a friend with an incubator? I would have that as a backup, and move the nest for her safety.

I considered the same - a goose as a protector. I was told by someone who has both that the goose may attack the ducks, possibly kill them. Geese and ducks don't always mix - maybe if they are raised together or a gosling is raised around ducks. I also have a Lab, a Cheseapeake Bay Retriever and a Bluetick Walker. Although 2 are hunting dogs, they have never hunted the ducks. We introduced them when the ducks were young, impressing on them that the ducks were "ours". Seems to have worked. Labs can seem dumb as posts so we haven't tested that meeting. He may have forgotten that the ducks are family, not snacks. We learned from our Giant Schnauzers - once a chicken killer, always a chicken killer. Best to keep protective fencing up. STRONG fencing.

no incubator.

no incubator.

If you can move her and nest with all the nesting material inside something you can close up with food and water for a few days till she gets use to the move it may work, I use dog crates they work well for brooding and also for moving from one place to another, but they in themselves won't protect her she'll have to be placed inside some more secure. But another question you have to ask yourself , if she does abandon the eggs will that be okay as long as she is well and healthy,? Maybe you can ask around if anyone has a bator you can borrow. Or can you move the lil pen she is in now to a better place? that way she will have the pen she started in but it will just be relocated to a safer place.
