Yes you can here is a chart to help you know what your seeing

take them into a dark room or closet and put a high quality flashlight [I have a 10.00 LED that I got at TSC that works great,] on the fat end then you should be able to see any veining, usually after 7 days incubation it shows really good,.

Yes to see if eggs are veining which means ducklings hopefully.

Even I have been able to candle eggs. I have a little mini mag light that sits perfectly on the round end of the egg, and it is fascinating how much I can see. So far, I am just seeing when an egg needs to be removed from the nest. I let my broodies sit on unfertilized eggs for a few reasons.

But I started candling when Bean the drake got here, because - well - there may have been a tryst I did not know about.

Ok cause I'm going to have to learn this soon my girl is totally letting one if our boys mount her then she shushs him off before he gets to finish I think I'm not really sure I've seen it a few times so how long until she lays? I've looked everywhere and have found no eggs

Maybe in less than a month then again maybe not till next spring depends on daylight and we're losing more of it daily.
