it has one sibling out and probably good to go but another one with a severe umbilical hernia. My A/C went out and it got HOT upstairs, so it thickened the inner membrane and it was so thick/gelatinous that the later ducklings couldn't pip internally properly. Anyway, sprayed the umbilicus with some veterycin, so we'll see how it goes, God willing.
Sorry about the first one, they are on my shoulder area and I can't see the viewer when I take the picture myself. My husband took the second picture.
Good for you better to not have spraddle leg.their like lil wind up toys and so cute. keep up with the pics so we can watch how much they change over the next weeks, it's amazing.![]()

if he sees the hen as his mate he could kill her if he were to mate her. Personally I would separate them for her safety and get him his own duck companion.I believe I posted over the winter about losing 1 of our 2 beloved ducks. Well the only good thing that came out of that was a truly remarkable thing to see. Prior to losing Frack, I would go out every night and catch them to safely tuck them in their coop. They wouldn't do it on their own often. The day after it happened my chickens surrounded Frick, it looked like they were having a moment of silence and a vigil for Frack. Ever since that day, Frick has been going into the coop with the chickens at night. I don't know if he thinks he's a chicken, but he has taken a special kinship to my only white chicken. He even chases the rooster away from her. When she goes into coop to lay an egg, he stands at coop door. Problem now is, she has gone broody and I am worried he's going to break the eggs because he wants to be close to her. Should I let their"relationship", haha, continue or pull him from chicken pen? I don't want to stress him to death. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Sounds like a drake to me, can you post some pics? and you might want to go to this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/130753/muscovy-keepers-share-your-pics/8050#post_13502050
Is there a way he can be near, but separated by a fence? I agree that having female duck companionship would greatly reduce the risk to your white chicken.
