The Duck Thread

It will be fine to eat. Yum!

Thank you! I figured it would be but thought I would double check. Are they like chickens and their eggs start out small and get bigger as they lay? It was quite a bit smaller than I expected but I think it came from one of our rouens so maybe their eggs are smaller? Its not any bigger than our chicken eggs.

I am not sure on size. I purchased my adult ducks last year and this years ducklings have not started to lay yet.

Thanks! They will come right up and eat your shoe laces, but they aren't lap ducks. Kinda frustrating. It's like a sweet and friendly dog/cat that you SWEAR is asking to be picked up but as soon as you try, all hell breaks loose. Lol. If you lay down they'll climb all over you but since duck and duckling poop are a world apart... that ain't happenin.

ha-ha u r right. And other than crawling all over you, they are more "you can look but can't touch.". Argh, I just wanna squeeze your big round soft bodies.

RavynFallen, I AM IN LOVE. Explain to me why she is so cute and round. I could easily hold her all day and kiss her little face. Thank you for tagging me to see her.

Always welcome, JB... Lady Grey is cute and round to make up for her terroristic ways, lol... and she does love to give kisses...

They typically will get somewhat larger and more uniform after the duck has been laying for a while. It's not uncommon for early eggs to be smaller and even somewhat oddly shaped.

Here's our mix of Rouen & Peking eggs before they headed to the incubator.

Eeeeee, look at her. Her mouth is open and she's saying something. Her cuteness would allow her to get away with anything if I had her. Her face is so adorable here.
