The Duck Thread

I had complete confidence in her, knew she wouldn't leave... we're on a large hill but think she did about 200 feet circle or so, and maxed at about 15 feet high... she circled all the way around and landed perfectly right between me and the pool, lol... :D
ok, whew. That is a big circuit for a lil bird. I am impressed. It must have been cute seeing her coming in for a landing with her legs and webs stretched out to land. I am glad she knew not to go so far.

Thank you and I do too... just glad I was able to get some kind of pic, lol... so small she looked like a sparrow with really long wings... :D

Sad cuz I had to clip my drakes wings... she's super bonded so she turned to keep me in sight...
awe, bless her. Sweet little flying duck bird. Cool that birds know the subtleties of banking their turns. They are such magnificent beings.

She chews me out for going too far! lol... she did way better than the boys did on their 1st long ones... they landed in the chicken pens several times... she has amazing control and it was awesome! :)

Wish I coulda got more pics, but glad I got one to share...

So you were afraid the drake would fly away? Mind don't go far, just around our property. Some of the young ones don't yet have the landing thing nailed, though. They get into the air and can't yet figure out the ground part, so they go kind of head over webs when they land, not just the graceful touchdown the older ones know how to do.

Oh, no... the drakes would come waddling back as fast as their webs could move, lol... it's just that once in a while they'd land in our neighbors yard on the other side of the pens... we had issues with 2 of their dogs getting out and slaughtering chickens so they threatened our ducks if they landed there again... is an ongoing issue as they're family by marriage... :/

she does have amazing control for sure. It is just, for me anyway, to see these little cute round snuggly naughty at times quirky ducks flying. It is like they are not a duck, per se, but some wonderful loved member of the family. Then Lady Grey does a big loop in your yard and it is like, ok, she IS a bird. Wow. Kinda hard for me to explain cuz I don't see my finches as birds, more like silly little characters. And when I have them out in a room flying around, I am reminded that they are new wave dinosaur birds. Freaky.

Eeeeee, u guys said webs. Oh, crap, no wonder you clipped your drakes. I hope Lady Grey doesn't land over there.

Long flights are a rare thing... and easier to keep up with her than 4 boys at once, lol... no, I keep Lady Grey safe... she's a very special duck... and from a very special, awesome friend... :)
