Ren2014, how old is the broody one? and is there anything that I can do to "help" her go broody?
She is a two year old. She tried to go broody once last year. I don't know of anything and honestly I wouldn't suggest it. Especially this time of year. I'm in Texas and we have no to very little winter. That's the only reason I let her go this time. I would just let nature take its course when the weather is good in your area.

First hatch! Looks like 2 Cayugas and 2 runners so far. 1 more eggs to hatch which should be Anconas. Of course any could be mixes too. God is amazing.
Congrats! God is amazing and watching these things break from their shell into new life is AWESOME!

The two in the corner didn't make it through the night.

. So sad. The other two are doing great but for some reason these 2 kept going back in the corner closer to the light.
oooo no.. so sorry to hear this but God is amazing and He never makes mistakes so there is a reason. Good luck with your remaining eggs

I don't know if there is anything you could do. Honestly, I would not recommend it where you are. Wait until Spring and let nature do its thing

If you would have taken her eggs each day, would she still have gone broody.?
I took them away last year and she did not go full broody.

Yes, they will go broody with no male, and nothing to sit on.

the one on the right is the one currently laying.

thanks, my Swedish girl has been for five days now she layed two eggs the first day, none the next, then two more, then one and none when I checked this morning. Is this just because she is just now starting out?

They might be here a little early based on the candling I did tonight.
Bugs is still sitting on her 14 and rarely leaves the nest. Here's a picture of her fussing at me, lol.

More than likely... one of my Calls did that a couple times... just give her time to get the plumbing straight, lol... I wouldn't worry as long as she has access to oyster shell and isn't in distress... usually it takes a month or so to get regular... :)
