The Duck Thread

I had to go look up if ducks have oil glands on their faces since I have never heard of that. and only place I saw was at base of tail so no oil gland to be smashed by another duck.

I had to look it up since I had never heard of that. yep nuts.

Problem is most of these bacteria are resistant to the stuff they sell at feed stores, so the only way to get decent antibiotics is to go to a vet or order them ( I know you already know this, but thought other people needed to know).

Yes'm! And we have the same go to for serious stuff, lol... I just wasn't sure if there was a one better than the other choice if feed store is all that they can get... my confidence in another vet has been serious depleted... :/

@Spyderk117 can you maybe call the vet and advise them that *several* waterfowl people have concerns that it is a sinus infection? And also that there are no oil glands anywhere on a ducks head? Baytril would be my recommendation for the antibiotic as well, considering he is an ornamental bird so withdrawal period is a nonissue...

OH WOW! We actually have some Baytril from a previous duck! There is a small amount left in the bottle. My Mom has contacted the vet to see what dosage she recommends, but I am curious to know what your advice would be too.
