I have a couple hatches under my belt now but by far newbie in my book.
I have noticed one thing I have not seen any one discuss.
And that is the EGG.
It is not just a shell with a membrane ,yolk and the white.
As it develops it transforms into a lifeline for the chick it has blood vessels all over it feeding the chick Oxygen. The Chick has umbilical cord attached to it. If you cut this cord wrong a chick can bleed to death.
What else does the Egg do?

It protects the growing embryo from harm, the yoke feeds the newly hatched chick making it possible for the lion share of eggs to hatch under a broody before the chicks need to be taught how to eat. Plus it allows hatcheries & individuals to be able to ship newly hatched chicks :)
