Note: I got my first chickens!

Okay so I went in there coop to attempt to hand feed them and willow and Luna escaped so then I opened the door to chase them back in and Luna went back in but right as I got willow in Luna escaped (AND I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME GET HER IN)...I thought ducks were fast, but no, that’s nothing compared to chickens. So trying to catch her was a no go because well they run faster then I can bike. But it’s okay she’s on our property. (Normally chickens will know to go in at night but cause it’s a new coop she wouldn’t) anyways I was chasing her and boom, she flew over the creek across to the mini island and ran up the hill towards the street. 🤭 then I ran after her then at that point I was in my neighbors yard and he was like ā€œwhatcha doinā€ anyways I told him and as embarrassing as it was he came and helped, the I finally got her back over which was a relief (after running through blackberry bushes) anyways I then attempted to corner her by the ivy cause there’s no creek to fly over but then I couldn’t get to her because it was all holly, so for about 2 hours I let her be but I also knew i had to catch her before the sun goes down or else (coyote food) anyways I then ran through the holly and she then got out. But now I had no plan, so I decided to leave her be for about an hour until I was like well now I gotta try again so I then realized maybe a pool net will help except I don’t own a pool. Anyways I went over to my neighbor and she gave me one to borrow. Then I ran at her until she climbed a fallen log to the other side of the creek however I had no way across so I also had to take the very unstable fallen log cause she was once again heading towards the road. So then I went across and while I was chasing her throw blackberry bushes I stepped on a beehive and they weren’t too happy luckily they didn’t follow me tho šŸ˜… and then I finally got her into our yard BUT THEN she started running up to the carport and eventually hid under reeds car but I finally was able to throw the net over her to catch her once she ran into the carport. This all happened over the span of 5 hours, a very stressful tim

Thank goodness for the happy ending -- happy in that you're both alive and relatively well. It also makes for a good story. Sorry about the beehive.

It's great that you got her in before night; I've had three that disappeared and were out overnight. They all survived, but I was a wreck, crying and beating myself up for not finding them. I imagined they were all coyote chow.

And, yes, chickens ARE faster than ducks. Of course, all of my runners are so food motivated that it doesn't occur to them to run away from a possible meal or treat. They gladly line up and head for their shelter when they hear me open the garbage can where their food is stored.

Hope it all goes better tonight!
