The Farming Thread!

For those of you who don't know, I'm a dairy farmer in Wisconsin. My family and I operate a small family dairy farm with primarily Jersey cows, with some mixes, and one pure Ayrshire. I think we are currently milking 39 cows. We have two cows that are getting closer to calving. We also have heifers.

Are any of you farmers? Dairy farmers, crop farmers, ect? Please feel free to join the thread, even if you aren't a farmer! Just please keep all talk farm related !

Not for our own drinking, but I'm pretty sure our dairy co-op does (Prairie Farms).

My brother worked on a dairy farm when we were teenagers. I remember a lot of his stories.

I'm interested in what farmers have to say here on BYC. And I'm jealous of all your manure! One of the reasons I got chickens was for poop for the garden.

We sell milk to Prairie Farms. I think ours goes to make cheese.

I'm not currently on a farm, but I hope to be a hobby farmer in the future. I'd like to have:
chickens
ducks
guineas
quail
goats
sheep
dogs
cats
cows (possibly mini cows)
and possibly a horse.
