Don't forget emus!I'm not currently on a farm, but I hope to be a hobby farmer in the future. I'd like to have:
chickens
ducks
guineas
quail
goats
sheep
dogs
cats
cows (possibly mini cows)
and possibly a horse.
Well if you want them like I do.

They get milked daily(once or twice).....by machine? We sell milk to Prairie Farms. I think ours goes to make cheese.
They get milked twice a day, morning and evening. We have a milk man that drives a semi that picks up our milk every other day. The milk is meanwhile stored in a stainless steel bulk tank (milk cooler) in the milk house. They get milked daily(once or twice).....by machine?
Is milk picked up or does family have to deliver it somewhere?
And yes, we use machines. They get milked twice a day, morning and evening. We have a milk man that drives a semi that picks up our milk every other day. The milk is meanwhile stored in a stainless steel bulk tank (milk cooler) in the milk house.
COOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSWe are hobby farmers. We currently have 7 heifers, some destined for the freezer, but some we want calves from. My stomach only likes raw milk so that's the long term goal - a house cow. There are 2 of our girls that I think will let me milk them. They and one other girl were recently AI'd so fingers crossed they are pregnant.

This is Maisy, the leader of our herd. She will do anything for food which makes her very easy to handle and she hates to miss out on pats. She loves to lick me as well - I had no idea how rough cow tongues are. She just about flays the skin off my legs (it's summer where I am so shorts weather)!
And then there is Merry (in her winter coat) who is super sweet.

We think they are Jersey x Murray Greys, though Maisy could be a Charolais cross as she was very blonde as a calf.
We'd love to become beef farmers because we enjoy the cattle so much but can't afford the land at the moment. Maybe one day.
@Dottie the Chicken your cows are so beautiful. They have such sweet faces.![]()
I am not a farmer but a dreamer who just loves cows. I just think they're the cutest animal, ever! I am from the city with hopes to move to the country one day where I could have a milking cow
Love love love the pictures @Dottie the Chicken and @JaeG Your cows are beautiful!
