The Fathers Day Hatch-A-Long!!! The Last Day To Set eggs Is June 3rd!!!!

all 6 goose eggs were damaged in shipping.. so I'm pulling all of them and adding more waterfowl eggs later this coming week
THe post master at my po said that for our area all the packages go into a mix master tumbling al l the packages repeatedly until they drop on the correct belt headed for a truck. He has convinced me to put special marking on the packages to avoid the belt. Non-machinable.

Sorry the eggs got scrambled. At least you have more coming next week!

I'm waiting for a few turkeys to hatch. Always a bit nerve wracking--never sure they will actually make it out of their shells.

Food for thought: AC air is dry air--proceed with extra caution. You may need more water not less. I used AC to dry down my first batch of eggs when the air cell was not big enough and it was already day 16. Needed to rush the drying so I used AC and a fan. You may want to monitor the %RH in the room, generally 50% will get you a lower %RH inside the incubator.
Really good point. I hadn't even put those two thoughts together yet. Are you saying that 50% in the room will get me a desirable % in the incubator, or too low, or??? I'm sure the AC air will be below that, but just curious.

Quote: Worrell's work indicates that room humidity of 50% will get you the correct %RH in the incubator. It is a bit of a generalization IMO because other factors also play a role in drying the eggs to the appropriate level: ventilation, fans, # eggs in the incubator. It's a good starting point if the local climate is accommodating.
