The Fathers Day Hatch-A-Long!!! The Last Day To Set eggs Is June 3rd!!!!

I have two questions.

Can I join.  I 'set' eggs May 20th in the evening?

My 'set' is a broody not an incubator.

If I can join.  I have 9 egg under her but I'll be candling on Monday to check development as the rooster is a little on the young side and not sure how many are fertile.
They are just barnyard mixes from my largest girls and hopefully my black copper maran roo.  There were some other roos skittering about too, a barnvelder and 3 americana's.

Figure it will be obvious if I see feathered legs. No matter the barnvelder is a big boy too.

You must have a beautiful yard of birds, you hatch so many wonderful chickens!!

I received some of my eggs to day. I took a batch from the turner bator and put them on lock down and placed the orpingtons in the turner bator. I feel like I have so much to learn. I was asked to day to try to set some duck eggs. I don't know if I will or not. I feel like I should be figure out how to get better hatch rates with the chicken eggs first. I have more eggs to place on lockdown day after tomorrow. I am one busy lady here. Sure wish I would have a hen go broody for me.

I wish I had something hatching. I have started setting eggs every weekend so I will have some hatching every weekend. Well at least till July when I plan to shut the bator off:/ well that is the plan anyway!!

Yikes--borrow one of mine. I have two useless hens. Broody and not laying. One hogging the nest box and the other laying on the coop floor. Just useless for me.

Good for you to focus on one species first. Nail this and I bet the other species will be easier .

Stick some more eggs under them. Lol. I hear people have trouble breaking Brody's I can break one in 15 seconds. I just move them to a cage and stick some eggs I WANT them to hatch under them and they stop brooding. Little ungrateful winches. I actually FINALLY have 1 sitting on 12 silkie eggs right now, I am so excited,!!!

I have another one going broody but I don't have any eggs for her until Tuesday. I'm going to move her and just put some barnyard mix under her and see if I can get her to sit for me.
