Wow it looks like we have a lot of eggs waiting to hatch for this hatch a long.. I am so excited.. This is my 2nd attempt at hatching. The first attempt went horribly wrong :( But I've talked to my chicken mentor :) and now I believe I have all my issues worked out, and this hatch is going to be phenomenal (Yay!!) Good luck to everybody and happy hatching <3

My other bantam hen, Lucy, went broody today.

This is her first time being broody but I can really use her help. My broody banty, Star, has a lot of eggs under her and this will make me feel better to give some of them to this hen. Even though this is her first time being broody, she did help Star with her first chicks and was quite the help so I am thinking this could be a good thing.

So I am in with 2 broodys sitting on ??? not sure how many eggs. I'll candle and count tomorrow when I am sure she is willing to stay put.

My 13 mo old Buff has been holding fast to her nest box for 8 days today. It took me until now to round up fertile hatching eggs locally. It was cute - I went out the coop this morning, petted her and she got all sqeaky and fluffed up. She didn't try to peck or get nasty which I was a little bit expecting as we've been bugging her a little bit each day to get out of the box. She stayed put, so I slid out the plastic Easter egg she's been snuggling and tucked her adoptees beneath her. She got all wiggly and and kinda 'sniffed' around and under herself before she spread her wings wide and sat down all proud-like on her new brood of ten egglets.

Here's to hoping for ten little
