THE firewood thread

I've read this thread and really enjoyed it. I burn wood in my workshop in winter so I don't cut much wood relatively (2 cord a year maybe) but I plan to add a wood stove to te house next year. Propane was dirt cheap this year so we pushed that project back.

I recently upgraded to a husqvarna 550xp this year but that blew up last week after 3 months. Fortunately it was a manufacturing defect and they are replacing it. I took good care of it so I wasn't too worried. That thing eats up wood like a monster. I love it.

i have six oil wells on my property and the natural gas from them runs into my house and i heat with it...ive had free gas for 5 years now and my parents have had free gas the past 25 years too

also bought a natural gas generator this year(starts up with gasoline) then runs non stop til i shut it off..which was a great addition lol knock on wood ive never ran out and as much as we pump the wells we wont run out soon

A good deal of my stuff runs on propane. Fridge, water heater, and stove.
I have a 500 gal tank, which I half fill about once a year, usually in summer when the price is lower.

For a couple winters back in CO. I swung a saw for a living, and for my heat.

Now in AZ, I don't need near as much wood, but the thing is in my area, there isn't much to be had.
This year I had two cords of mesquite brought in. Most will go in the wood stove, with the rest being used in my smoker for cooking. I no longer have my Husky 268, as it done got runned over.
