How pretty! I always love royal palms. I just recently lost my blue slate tom. I will definitely miss seeing him and his poofy feathers! He would strut his stuff int he back yard and constantly called out to his girl.

Great to know about turks. I really wanted some but was discouraged from the start. Where do you keep them? In a coop like chicks but larger?

Any suggested site I can view?

I bought my turkeys when then were adults. Both have been great to have around. I don't think they like me very much but they are not aggressive at all.

Every morning when I walk out the door to go to work the tom gobbles when the door shuts. The tom will gobble at anything. My wife coughed the other day and he gobbled. At first light the rooster will crow and the tom will gobble. They take turns for at least an hour. The rooster shuts up but the tom keeps it up all day if he hears any loud noise. He even gobbles when cars pass on the road if nothing else is making noises.

They are great to have around. I put them in with my chickens.
The window is 3 feet off the ground and the chickens have to hop up on a lower roost to see out. The tom just stands up on his tip toes and peeks out the window to see what is going on.

I have no intention of eating them. I just like to hear the hen putt and purr and the tom gobble.

Everyone needs at least a pair of turkeys.

That's neat. My guineas just hid in the rafters and waited for me to come in so they could show me how angry they were that I made it snow. It looked like it had snowed on my coat...

beautiful pix! I'm glad to see you got the snow instead of the ice; I would have preferred it that way here as well. We got around 1 to 1 1/2" of ice, and it's a mess here. I'm SO THANKFUL that we have power here, and I have a gas stove so we've been warm for the most part (until our power came back on; gas furnace but electric blower & thermostat...

but even with that, the coldest it got b/f power restoration was about 58 degrees. Tolerable for sure! Hopefully it'll melt off quickly so cleanup can begin.
