The Fricken Chicken story!

That's so great. I know my betta would murder anything I were to put in his tank. He doesn't even like snails. :gig

That's beautiful! Your plants all look so healthy. I'm okay at growing plants, but they never thrive. Is there anything special you do to make them grow like that?
A good plant light! They been in there growing for YEARS! I can't even remember the substrate I used other than sand. Maybe some clay cat litter on the bottom. And I did once put these plant food things for aquariums in the soil ages ago, when I put the plants in.. But I have a good balance of fish, that keep them naturally fertilized and a way over board filter to keep all my plants moving. I'm running a 75 gallon fluval canister filter! So that's 50g more flow than I would run on a non planted tank!

I just got a nicrew light for my 20 gallon, which I'm going to heavily plant with a carpet and everything. Hopefully that will help the plants.
My betta tank came with a light which isn't very strong, which is probably why the plants aren't doing great. It's next to a window though, so I guess that gives the plants enough light to survive.

I used to run a CO2 system, but had a horrible mishap with it. And it killed all of my original fish. I had fish that, I had for about 10 years in there. I cried when that happen. Never used co2 again since

I'm so sorry you lost all your fish. That must have been awful. I've heard of really bad things happening with CO2 systems, so I definitely won't be using that. I don't want to risk anything bad happening to my fish.

I have 5 of my eggs, and 3 silkie eggs on lock down!! I'm standing on the sideline rooting them on! Come on little bitties!! You can do it! I'll see yins in a few more days! 🥰🥰🥰

That's really awful. I'm so sorry. :hugs

I've never heard of a CO2 system. It's been a decade or more since I had a tank though.

If it's not one thing, it is another.... I have no idea what got into Ruby. But my god she is a vicious beast... I seen her lay into Rori the other day. And didnt think nothing of it. I've been fairly busy this past week, and haven't paid much attention to my flock. Asides from feed, water and doing a head count at night, I haven't really individually checked them out... well my rori is paying for my slacking this week .... I didnt realize her neck was split from ear to ear, and grossly infected. Ruby is going to get a rude awaking this evening. I'm putting her in time out... at least long enough to drop her a few rungs down the ladder in pecking order.... in the mean time I'm going to keep rori cages in the coop. I dressed her wounds. And doing what I can to help her heal. All in all she is being her normal rori self. My poor girl .
