I have a rock game hen who was injured as a chick. She healed but has always had a limp. As she got older she fattened up a lot and has become unable to walk. She has been this way for some time now. She doesn't seem to be in pain. As a result of depending on my so much she has become far more tame than the rest of the flock. Last night I turned the flock loose in my yard and carried my fat hen out and set her under the apple tree, where she loves to peck at the bugs and rotting apples that have fallen from the tree. My little female Weiner dog was out walking the yard. I looked over at her and saw her really checking out my crippled hen. she never gets that close to the hens. then she walked around to the rear of the bird and preceded to mate with her...lol. a 5 lb. dog trying to breed a 10lb. hen. omg, I laughed so hard! what a sight. wish I would have had my camera with me. poor bird, she wasn't impressed. she flapped her wings and the dog ran off. I called my little dog a poultry pounder all night long...lol
