Kill the foxes before they kill your chickens, but here's the thing. The foxes are too well fed to bother with our chickens. Not once since my grandmother and grandfather started raising chickens have we ever lost one to foxes. We feed them too well.

When we throw out food that's been in the fridge for too long, the foxes eat it and stay away from our flock. We've lost chickens to hawks and dogs, but never foxes. The adorable little suckers keep the rodent and rabbit population down. My dad is also very protective of the foxes because they are descendants of the female he had way before he ever met my mom. Long story short she got out and we've had a fairly tame fox population ever since.

Well, someone is killing our...er THE foxes. We never have problems with coons because of them. The same person that's killing the foxes are also killing the baby deer and pouring acid on the bodies before collecting the bones.

Neither our neighbor that owns the land they're doing this on, nor us know what to do about them. It's driving us all insane.

If it weren't for the foxes, I'd have lost some of my chickens by now. What the heck should we do?

Thanks Imp. I was thinking that maybe we could do that, but if it is who we think it is, then we will have a really big problem on our hands.

The owner of the property can not only call the authorities over the tresspassing/poaching....
BUT
They can call the enviromental authorities over the acid... which I presume is being poured onto the deer where they fall, since you saw the results? They are contaminating the land and water supplies... and the orginization in control of that stuff will hunt them down and prosecute for you.
Bye-bye animal killers.

I believe anyone who suspects poaching can call it in to the authorities, not just the land owner. I'd make the call.

Trespassing is another story, that falls to the land owner. A friend of ours who is an attorney told us that merely posting the standard NO Trespassing signs on acreage is not sufficient that it has to be worded a particular way to be enforceable. This was when we lived in New York so it may vary in other places.

Poaching gets a call straight to Fish & Game! They have limited resources, so a game cam set in a sneaky hiding place would be great if you catch an image to aide them. But they have to take all complaints seriously. Do you have photos of when you find bones and signs of acid and what not? The more evidence around, the better.

sorry this is happening, I would get a game cam, I would also take pictures of any evidence you can find, the more the better then call the fish and wildlife in your area also the law enforcement for trespassing and poaching. Good luck.

deer are game animals and this is a crime and it needs to be reported ASAP. Wanton waste is the waste of a useable natural resourse. the person doing this needs to be stopped.
in minnesota you can get a cash reward for turning in pouchers.
