Outdoorsii, I love your avatar. That chicken is so cute! My chickens recently got bumblefoot too. Did you wrap her feet in duck tape?
Thanks, I like yours too :) My favorite color is black :) especially when its got green & purple sun shades on it.

Well, we did at least 4 pretty brutal surgeries on her & my old (RIP) whispytail, both feet on both chickens, now hers are coming back I think. I think they might be getting splinters on ttheir ladder going up to their roost/nest boxes...I needa go out there & sand it more I guess.

But yea, we soaked their feet in epsom salt/warm water for bout 15 min (which luckily she was pretty still since they were/are so tame) & btw, we shoulda soaked it more often before that b/c your supposed to get the bottom of their foot ie. the black dot bumble really soft so that its easier to get out & a less painful for the chicken. But yea, we cut all the wa around the black spot & pulled out the plug, but I coulda sworn there was more "leftover pieces" of the bumble down inside her foot pad, but yea we squished tons of medicated antibacterial (neosporin - the kind w/out the pain relief) stuff inside the hole & bandaged her up with a non-stick gauze pad which we cut in 4 places for places for all her toes

; & then held the pad on there, then my dad wrapped that blue tape (its usually blue) that sticks to itself but not the wound, around that pad to hold it in place & we used ALOT of that tape all b/t her toes also one time through & THEN we put SOME duct tape on parts of her feet, but not over the wound really itself b/c duct tape will hold out all the air that the wound needs to heal - granted it was wrapped up pretty good but at least some air can get in, if you duct tape the entire thing it wouldn't get any air.

Are you supposed to use Neopsorin without pain relief? Uh-oh.

lol its ok probably if you did use it....

I had read somewhere that using neosporin with pain relief - the ingredients that contain anything with -caine like Lidocaine, Benzocaine aren't good & are toxic to chickens (idk WHO found that out but thats what i read lol), but from what i've read also some Neosporins have Pramoxine HCL or something & supposedly that's ok to use! just for future knowledge
