The girls are out in the sunshine

Awesome run!!

Mine spent two hours in the run on sunday for the first time. At first they would not go out the door, they just stood there looking out then would run back to far side of coop.

I gave them a tiny shove.....of course then I could not get them to go in for the night had to herd them in like cattle

OMG..We have the same problem. It was too hot to leave the coop door close for them to learn it was home. So now we have to chase them, pick them up and put them in....more like herding cats to me

Anyway...cambriagardener/Goat_Walker

Here is the info on the run from DH....coop door info is on the way

1.The fence was not hard to build, 2 adults 1 case of beer 1 afternoon(my 22year old son and myself) 2.The fence was red top livestock with chicken wire on first layer, chicken wire top layer, deer netting on top.
3.The fence I bought at Lowes and Tractor supply store.
4.The fence is about 7 1/2 feet tall, remember to bury 1 ft and some for overlap.
5. The run is 70 feet long between 10 and 12 feet wide, we had to go around a few trees.
6. We buried the fence 1 foot deep all the way around and put 36 in wide chicken wire on ground (buried) 7. I attached all seams and overlaps with wire (.41 safety wire)something like hay baling wire.

O.K. here is the info on the coop door...
"That was a little more involved, I had left over 1X4 exterior trim and a scrap piece of 1 in plywood. I made a set of tracks out of the trim. Decide the size of opening then make the tracks twice as big as the opening, that way the door will open all the way. I ripped (cut in half length ways) a piece of trim, then screwed another piece of trim to the outside. All pieces should be cut to the same length. 4in trim then 2in trim then 4in trim. The door should slide up and down in the middle (2in trim). I put an extra piece on top to keep debris out of the door tracks, just remember you will have the rope or cable there also. Clear as Mud?" "the only hardware was the eyelet to attach the cable and the pulley at the top"
We just tied the cable to a 5in dowel, put 2 long nails on the wall where ever the end of the cable is to set the dowel on. When you pull the door up just lay the dowel on the nails to hold it in place.

IM me if you need any other info on them. I can get some pics if you need them

THANK YOU! Im comin gup with blue prints, mine wont be nearly as glorious as yours

Ya DH really out did himself. I think I messed up though. Tons of room for more chicks in the run but not in the coop
