Beautiful birds and coop! We were just in Port Washington on the 4th!! It is a beautiful place and the street market was a lot of fun. Do you know what those little blue birds are that are along the pier, they kind of swoop around the lake.

Photography is a side hobby of mine as well as bicycling, concrete, carpentry and now chickens.

I haven't been into town as of late to know which birds you are referring to. Are they small like a finch or larger?

Would love to hear some photography tips from you. You probably use an SLR rather than a point and shoot? I am frustrated daily as I take pix of my chix - mostly just blurs!

Yes, I use a digital SLR. Nikon D80. And now that they are faster I shoot using a faster speed and different appature. I also use a fixed 60 MM lens when shooting the birds and my camera auto focus's on the fly.

Point and shoots camera's are not fast enough when you shoot moving object.

If you an action/sports setting on it, I would use that. Should help a bit taking images of the chickens.

I have an SLR but can't use it - severe back problems, it's just heavy enough that holding it aggravates things. But I'm tempted to try anyway after seeing your photos!
