The Glass Bowl

What'cha got there, eh? What's in the bowl, huh, huh? Can we have some pleeeeeeeeeze?

There's something about a transparent glass bowl that my chickens find irresistable. Doesn't matter if it's empty, each one must put their beak in it and pretend to eat what isn't there. Wow, that air tastes delicious!

What the...??? This is becoming the morning routine and they literally have access to food 24/7.

Anyone else have goofy, little, weirdos like mine?

Our ducks have a weird obsession with bedding bags! They will all romp over to see what’s going on, and then proceed to open it with their beaks, (or at least try too!) our chickens used to lay eggs in our feed cans. We would put the lid on, she would hop on one side, and flip the lid upside down, and then get trapped in it! I think all flocks have their quirks!

When I change my duck’s bedding they MUST stick their beaks into the bag full of old beddings. Then the wind blows and the scream in terror…

Glass bowl? No, mine don’t need a glass bowl. They smell food from miles away. I swear, i have a empty bag, no one comes, but i have a chip bag (thats not even opened!) and my little food eater Rizo RUNS as fast as she can.

For context: Rizo is a foody black sex link. She has some temper issues to say the least.

If she starts a fight with you, you can‘t win. If you push her back, your dead, you might aswell say your farewells because she’ll puff up like a turkey and attack. If you run, well, she runs aswell. If you try defending yourself it just makes it worse. So either way, your a goner.

Ive had a few times where i have defended my chip bag, and she will rip my watch off (sandals and watches make her very angry. You can see the rage in her eyes) along with my shoes. Then she gets on your lap and gets all gentle like shes apologizing but she horrifies the heck out of me.

Whenever someone comes by and they have food in their hands, i tell them to put it behind their back and run.


Anyway, Rizo also is a cheese expert so she is extremely particular on what cheese she eats. (As a treat, of course) she hates mozzarella or shreds, and only has eyes for one, her beloved American cheese.
Oh and she steals food from you and runs away.

I keep a clear tote with game bird feed in my hay shed, which the chickens have access to. You would think they would learn by now that they can't get to it.
