I've decided to make another decorated gourd to enter in our county fair this year. The fair theme is going to have something to do with the country's 250th birthday, and our fair's 180th birthday, so I'm planning on a patriotic design. I thought it might be neat to post my progress with this project as I go along. 
The gourd I'm using is pretty big. I measured and it's 14" in diameter. The hole I drilled in the center is 4" in diameter, and I'm planning to make a dreamcatcher there. I can picture it in my head, so hopefully I can translate that to the actual thing.
I've gotten it cleaned out pretty well, but I still need to cut the top off. You can see the cut line I've drawn on it in the picture. Once the top is off, I can clean it the rest of the way. After that, I'll probably spray and seal the inside, and add some color!
