I had a turkey hen hatch 3 poults on my front porch. Somehow 2 of the chicks got under the porch between the original house and an 1850 addition. I could hear them crying but I couldn't reach. Getting dark, rain coming and it's still cold here nights. I twisted and turned for all I was worth. Couldn't reach the crying peeps.
I got my teenage daughter and she wiggled and dug and ripped and was able to grab one after pulling dirt with her finger tips for half an hour. She couldn't see the other but could hear it. Kept digging and sliding herself further and further under the porch. After another half hour of not reaching the baby she was saying it useless we couldn't reach it. There was an old shingle stuffed in there keeping her from reaching the chick. I got a large pair of pliers and she was able to tear the old shingle enough to poke the baby closer. She grabbed him just as a cold rain started to fall.
Brianna was covered in mud, dirt and cobwebs. Dirt fell from under her clothing and hair. Gave it her all and got them out!

Hail Brianna the great turkey hero!

She says I owe her big time. Got a 100 on her Physics final and rescued my peeps. Everybody cheer Brianna!!!
